Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a popular minimally invasive aesthetic treatment used to improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, uneven skin tone, and other skin concerns. It works by creating controlled micro-injuries that support the skin’s natural repair process, which is exactly why understanding the science behind the treatment is so important.
This course was created to help you understand not just how to perform the treatment, but what is happening in the skin and how each decision affects the outcome.
Who This Course Is For
This course was created for medical and skincare professionals who want a more in-depth, science-backed understanding of microneedling than a basic technique-only training can provide.
This training is designed for licensed aesthetic professionals, including aesthetic nurses, registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), physicians (MDs/DOs), dentists (DDS/DMD), estheticians, and other skincare or medical professionals who are legally permitted to perform microneedling within their scope of practice.
Ideal for beginners with no experience, as well as
a refresher course for those with some prior knowledge.
What Makes This Course Different
As an Aesthetic Registered Nurse, I created this course to include the kind of information I wish I had learned at the beginning of my own career, along with the deeper understanding that usually takes years of experience, research, and trial-and-error to figure out on your own.
That is why this course goes beyond basic technique-only training. A lot of microneedling training focuses on the basic steps of the treatment, but not always the deeper “why” behind what you’re doing.
This course helps bridge that gap with up-to-date, science-backed education on skin response, wound healing, technique, safety, client selection, and current microneedling research.
You’ll also learn the reasoning behind common microneedling myths, so you can better understand what is supported by the science and what may be outdated or misunderstood.
My goal is for you to leave this course with the knowledge, skill, and confidence to approach microneedling more safely, make better clinical decisions, and support the best possible results for your clients.

Microneedling is a popular aesthetic treatment used to improve the appearance of acne scars, other types of scars, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, uneven tone, and certain types of hair thinning.
When performed correctly and within your legal scope of practice, microneedling can be a valuable treatment to offer because it is extremely versatile, has relatively low consumable costs, and can fit into many different treatment plans, depending on the client’s skin concerns and goals.
Safety & Skin Tone Considerations
Proper microneedling education is extremely important because every step is crucial for client safety and treatment outcomes, from client selection and contraindication screening to sanitation, technique, depth selection, pre-treatment care, post-treatment care, and complication prevention.
One reason microneedling is so popular is because it can be used on a wide range of skin tones when performed correctly. However, proper treatment planning, technique, device selection, needle depth, and post-treatment care are especially important for clients with darker skin tones, higher Fitzpatrick skin types, or skin that is prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Because device approvals, regulations, product ingredients, and licensing requirements can change, this course teaches you how to think through product and device selection more carefully instead of relying on one brand’s protocol.
Before purchasing or using any microneedling device, product, or topical ingredient, you should verify that it is appropriate for your license, scope of practice, treatment setting, state or provincial regulations, employer policies, medical director requirements, and insurance requirements.
The goal is not to tell you that there is only one “right” pen or product line.
It is to help you understand what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to make safer, more informed decisions for your clients.
